"I did more research, and realized I almost would rather be a biologist than a writer, because there was incredible stuff going on!"
- Greg Bear

Robot Skin Covering
Realistic covering for the bodies of robots.

An early description of realistic skin for robots.

The marvelous mechanisms were housed in a body like a Greek god’s, the covering of which was made from an elastic, tinted material that had all the feel and appearance of human flesh and epidermis. The electric-eye lenses looked like human optics and moved in their sockets in a most lifelike manner. There was a wig of curly brown hair, as well as eyelashes and brows.
