"I'm a fairly visual thinker. In doing science, I think in terms of pictures of things happening, and then do the mathematics."
- Gregory Benford

Unichapel (Robotic Confession Booth)
Automated religious confessional with monotone, programmed responses.

THX 1138 finds his way into what looks like a phone booth, but it turns out to be a kind of robotic confessional - a unichapel.

(The robotic confessional booth from THX 1138)

From THX 1138, by George Lucas.
Published by Zoetrope in 1970

The booth shows images of Jesus on a view screen; answers are generated automatically by the computerized booth.

Don't forget, everyone:

"Work hard, increase production, avoid accidents, and be happy."

Readers will note the similarity to Philip K. Dick's Padre booth in his 1969 novel Galactic Pot-Healer.
