Touch Tablet  
  Another name for a wireless Tablet PC.  

Some classes of people will find Tablet PCs liberating; others may not.

The representatives from three other research divisions and also arrived before Kay and Liz. Two men and one woman, all in their late '40s, bowed their heads as they poured over touch tablets, getting through the perpetual network-enabled tasks of their day. They did not look up as Kaye entered, although most of them had met her and conversed with her at Americol mixers and Christmas parties.

Kaye and Liz sat with their backs along window that looked out over downtown Baltimore. Kate felt a breeze go up her back from a floor vent. Jackson had taken pole position, leaving Liz and Kaye with the air-conditioning.

I really like the way that Bear has captured the real use of Tablet PCs (and computers in general) in corporate life, and the true fact of wireless. That is, thanks to wireless networking, there will be no escaping the endless drudgery of the paperwork of the "paperless" office.
