"I am first of all not a science fiction writer … I write, I suppose, what the Latin Americans call magic realism."
- Harlan Ellison

Gee Bath
Essentially a waterbed designed to help older or untrained people cope with high acceleration aboard spacecraft.

Both Niven and Pournelle are Heinlein fans; they may well have remembered this one from RAH novels.

At four gravities, nobody walked, nobody lifted anything.,,

Bury was in the gee bath: a film of highly elastic Mylar over liquid. Only his face and hands showed above the curved surface. His face looked old - it almost showed his true age.

Technovelgy from The Mote in God's Eye, by Larry Niven (w/J. Pournelle).
Published by Simon & Schuster in 1974
