One remarkable thing about this idea is that you will also find it in the most modern of novels written in the cyberpunk tradition - Starfish by Peter Watts (see eyecaps ).
| They listened to the safety cranks and stopped us from projecting our messages on aircar windows - but we bounced back. Lab tells me ... that soon we'll be testing a system that projects directly on the retina of the eye. |

Is this the first idea for a heads-up display? The earliest reference for working heads-up displays is the early 1970's in USAF fighter jets.
