Apple Ring: Finally, Engineers Want To Make My Finger Watch
Covetous. That's how I feel about the announcement that Apple has filed a patent for a ring computing device. That's great. But what I really want is an Apple Ring, which seems to be the rumor.
(Apple ring computing device)
So what does the patent application state? Although not all of Apple’s patents ends on the production line, they did describe their potential product as an interactive smart ring that could have a touchpad/ touchscreen, a haptic feedback and a microphone. With smart ring on their mind, we love that Apple are thinking outside the box and acknowledging a smart watch might not be for everybody.
When did I first begin to covet? When I read about the idea for a finger watch in Robert Heinlein's excellent 1951 novel The Puppet Masters.
But then, as I sometimes do, I found an earlier reference - in a 1951 short story by HB Fyfe:
Crayn glanced at his finger watch as his aide fastened the cloak he had brought hurriedly after him. It was three-forty-seven, Galactic Time.
(Read about the finger watch)
