A System To Defeat AI Face Recognition

An interesting story posted by Brian Roemmele described one simple strategy for defeating the artificial intelligence (AI) face recognition systems that seem to be popping up everywhere.

Virtual Epiphantic Identity Lustre (VEIL) is a clever idea (and acronym!) from Fall; or, Dodge in Hell: A Novel, by Neal Stephenson, published by William Morrow in 2019.

Other science-fictional ideas include the scramble suit from Philip K. Dick's 1977 novel A Scanner Darkly, the Jodie grid from The Diamond Age (1995) by Neal Stephenson and the abglanz from The Mountain in the Sea (2022) by Ray Naylor.
