I Didn't Know You Can Already Buy Flesh Putty

Just this week, I really enjoyed reading Titanium Noir by Nick Harkaway. Among the many interesting ideas described in the book in that of flesh putty for wound care:

"While you were sleeping, I filled your bullet hole with flesh putty and the lattice. When it sets so that I can't put this middle finger right up at, you can go."

Imagine my surprise when Technovelgy reader Yossi (@ExoThinker) let me know that this pretty much already exists.

The Celox Blood Clotting Granule Applicator and Plunger Set is used to stop the bleeding of small, penetrating wounds. Included is a blood clotting powder with an applicator and plunger sytstem to help insert the hemostatic agent. This set is sterile, provided in waterproof packaging, and is suitable for bullet, blast, or stabbing injuries. It is non-heat generating and can be removed from the wound for treatment. Instructions for product use can be found on the backside of the packaging. This product is fast, effective, and easy to use.

Fans of the science fiction of yesteryear will want to compare flesh putty not to mention Celox Blood Clotting Granules to plastissue from WF Wallace's 1952 story Accidental Flight, plasta-skin from Star Rangers (1953) by Andre Norton and plastotek from Menace from Vega (1958) by Robert Randall. See also vivo-gel from Agent of Vega 1949) by James Schmitz.
