'Ring Nation' Show Predicted By William Gibson In 1999
Ring Nation is a new clip show that will debut on September 26th.
The series, which will launch on September 26, will feature viral videos shared by people from their video doorbells and smart home cameras.
It’s a television take on a genre that has been increasingly going viral on social media.
The series will feature clips such as neighbors saving neighbors, marriage proposals, military reunions and silly animals.
“Bringing the new community together is core to our mission at Ring, and Ring Nation gives friends and family a fun new way to enjoy time with one another,” added Jamie Siminoff. “We’re so excited to have Wanda Sykes join Ring Nation to share people’s memorable moments with viewers.”
(Via Deadline.)
As far as I'm concerned, science fiction author William Gibson predicted this idea in his 1999 novel All Tomorrow's Parties and then takes it to the next level:
There were Lucky Dragons all over America, all over the world for that matter, and to prove it you had your trademark Lucky Dragon Global Interactive Video Column outside. You had to pass it entering and leaving the store, so you'd see whichever dozen Lucky Dragons franchise [it] happened to be linked with at that particular moment: Paris or Houston or Brazzaville, wherever.

That's right; a compilation of live video feeds from around the world. Amazon executives are encouraged to respond.
