I know that some of my article titles are hard to read, so I'll break it down for you. Tap Strap, now on it's second iteration, now lets you navigate your computer screen by waving your hand around - an "air mouse".
The Tap Strap is one of the more interesting gadgets to hit the market last year. It’s a Bluetooth keyboard with an integrated optical mouse that you wear over your fingers like flexible brass knuckles.
The Tap Stap 2 just launched today, launching at $200 and its main new addition is the ability to use the wearable as an air mouse.
Science fiction great Philip K. Dick probably wouldn't have liked to enclose his hand with alien bluetooth technology, but he liked the idea of hand waving gesture control. Check this excerpt from his 1955 novel Solar Lottery:
"You're wrong, honey," Al said seriously. "The l-channel is for news and factual information. The s-channel is for pleasure. I enjoy watching this way, but - He waved his hand and the circuit switched abruptly. The vivid swirls of color and sound winked out. In their place the placid features of the Westinghouse news announcer appeared.
Apropos of nothing, does anyone remember Jack Finney's wonderful short story Quit Zoomin' Those Hands Through The Air? I thought not. Via
