Australia is back in the forefront - with Dominos Australia perfecting their pizza delivery drone. Now, a pizza delivery via drone in Auckland, NZ. Technovelgy readers know that Dominos is crushing science-fictional delivery methods - like the Snow Crash And Domino's DXP Pizza Delivery Vehicle from earlier this year.

According to the company’s press release, the drones will begin delivering pizzas to customers later this year from “a select New Zealand store,” though it did not specify the location.
Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Group CEO Don Meij says the project is one that will “revolutionize the delivery experience is an achievement that will set our company apart in the minds of customers and change the way delivery is conducted around the world.”
Update 01-Jul-2021: Fans of science fiction author Robert Heinlein may recall the delivery robot mentioned in his 1962 novel Podkayne of Mars. End update.
EB White wrote a prescient short fiction work for The New Yorker magazine in 1950 titled The Morning of the Day They Did It, describing among other things space platforms (he appears to have coined the phrase). However, he also described a delivery system via helicopter - the Diaheliper:
It seems there had been a low-altitude collision between two small planes... One plane was a Diaheliper, belonging to an aerial diaper service that flew diapers to rural homes by helicopter.
