Sony 360 3D 'Stereo Tank' Video
A video of the Sony 360 display shown at CEATEC 2009 has finally surfaced. It shows that the device shows a three-dimensional image that can be seen from all around the device by multiple users.

On the video, a Sony VP is somewhat dismissive of the device, describing it as being one of two prototypes. It has a relatively low resolution display in a relatively small area - a cylinder 13 centimeters in diameter and 27 cm high.
Science fiction fans have long memories and recall such 3D display devices as the telestereo from Edmond Hamilton's 1928 classic Crashing Suns and the stereo tank from Robert Heinlein's 1961 novel Stranger in a Strange Land.
SF movies love this effect, of course.
