Microsoft Surface Sphere: Multi-Touch Crystal Ball
There are rumors that Microsoft is showing off some different versions of their Surface multi-touch screen.
The idea is that consumers might like to have a multi-touch display in more than one form factor; they (we?) might like to have one built into kitchen counters, walls, who knows.
The particular rumor I'm interested in is the idea that there is a prototype for a spherical Microsoft Surface display floating around somewhere in Microsoft Research TechFest 2008.
At least one reviewer wants to know who in the world would want a spherical display - and what would they use it for?

I seem to recall reading that women are increasingly likely to adopt new technologies... particularly to facilitate communication.
