"Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it."
- Robert Heinlein

Zip Paper
Very thin display like a single sheet of paper.

Here's a short excerpt showing additional features:

"I recovered a spreadsheet file - mostly a list of names. Put it on a zip paper for your. Fingerprint the upper corner and all will be revealed. Pull back the plastic tab and bend the corner - all gone."

One sheet of zip paper.

She thumbed the tab.

The first entries from the dattoo, arranged in indexed pages, were people she had met at the COPES conference...

Rebecca finished her coffee, then touched the zip paper's right arrow to access the fourth page...

Technovelgy from Mariposa, by Greg Bear.
Published by Vanguard Press in 2009
Additional resources -

Bear is reusing (and renaming) this idea from one of his earlier works; see the entry for e-sheet from his 2003 novel Darwin's Children.

Fans of Neal Stephenson's 1995 novel The Diamond Age may also remember the mediatron, which is the same basic idea.

If you're looking for a real-life version of this kind of display, prototypes abound. For example, see this Touch EPD Touch Screen EPaper Display .
