"In my mind I have gone all over the universe, which may make it less important for me to make piddling little trips... I did enjoy seeing Stonehenge. It looked exactly the way I thought it would look."
- Isaac Asimov

E-Sheet
A disposable medium for reading electronic messages.

Trust Greg Bear to take us to the next level. What comes after inexpensive thin-sheet computer displays? Disposable displays.

Augustine asked the attendant for a ginger ale then took his seat midplane, over the wing, and buckled himself in.

He removed the e-sheet from the attaché case and folded the red corner to activate. A keypad appeared in the lower half. He entered the code of the day and read his briefing from the emergency action special reconnaissance office.

He finished reading, then crimped the corner of the e-paper until it broke, automatically erasing the memory strip. The display side of the paper turned orange. He handed the attendant the scrap and received his ginger ale in exchange.

Is hard to tell how much intelligence, or how much processing power, this device has. Based on the fact that it is possible to enter a code, it must be a pressure sensitive display.

Also, take a look at Mediatron and Runcible, both from The Diamond Age, by Neal Stephenson.
