Comments on Is This A 'Skylight' Leading To A Lunar Cave?
Could this deep hole be an entrance to a lunar cave or lava tube? If so, it could point the way to a perfect location for permanent habitation on the Moon. (Read the complete story)

"Stargate SG-1 episode 7x22 "Lost city part 2" features the team punching a skylight in an ancient (pun intended) lava bubble covering an Ancient outpost. The bubble was created by lava flowing and solidifying over the outposts shield. The skylight is created by punching through with a ringer transporter. "Is it Mars or the Moon? http://www.livescience.com/space/091026-mm-mars-caves.html Or both?"
(Brandon 10/26/2009 8:50:37 AM)
"I think both. I contribute to Livescience; I'll ask their editor. The idea of caves on Mars has been around for a while; here's a 2000 article from Space.com."
(Bill Christensen 10/26/2009 4:43:30 PM)
"HG Wells had a story called 'The First Men In the Moon' which spoke of 'Selenites' living in sub-terranean ('selenian'?), tunnels. Can't recall if there were any skylights as such though."
(Fortigurn 10/26/2009 6:43:08 PM)
"I'll note that the "Storer-Gulls" were a specific brand of wings, not the general term for them. He mentioned other types, including "generic trainers", but the "Storer-Gulls" were a fancy, expensive, (and apparently good quality) name-brand style."
