"No one has ever produced a statement of fact that was technically true. The most accurate statements of science we have today are accurate to only 15 decimal places."
- Bart Kosko

Cyberpunk
A person who codes without concern about law or social norms; the term is used exclusively to name a sf genre of stories featuring such persons.

As far as I know, this is the first use of the term, but only in the title.

Title only.

Here's a very early use of the term, in The Light Fantastic, a book review column by Orson Scott Card, published in Worlds of If in 1986:

William Gibson’s NECROMANCER won just about every award they give, primarily because of Gibson’s vigorous style and his believable, well-extrapolated near-future setting. Supposedly he is representative of a style of writing called “Cyberpunk” because of its melding of artificial intelligence with burned-out, drug-blown punk culture. The trouble is that when you look for other exemplars of the Cyberpunk movement, nobody but Gibson really belongs. It ain’t every writer who can be a whole movement all by himself.

Another early use by Bruce Sterling:

But of all the labels pasted on and peeled throughout the early Eighties, one has stuck: cyberpunk.
