Autonomous Russian Greenhouse For ISS Wheat
The Russian Institute of Biomedical Problems is working on a greenhouse for the ISS, at least until the Russians decide to leave the facility. Bread in space!

"The project of a new greenhouse, which we are currently developing, is developed by the Institute of Biomedical Problems, so that it is possible to develop a technology for non-operator cultivation, a technology for conveyor cultivation, cultivation in four large-volume sections simultaneously, even solving the problems associated with grain processing into flour for baking for the first time in the world on the ISS space bread."
They could try growing Martian Sawgrass, as suggested by sf writer George O. Smith in a 1942 short story - but that was for air replenishment.
As far as I know, the earliest reference to a spaceship garden was in The Heritage of the Earth by Harley S. Aldinger, in 1932.
