"Poised between intransigent scepticism and uncritical credulity, it [science fiction] is par excellence the literature of the open mind."
- John Brunner

Flesh Putty
A flesh replacement, good for putting in bullet holes.

"While you were sleeping, I filled your bullet hole with flesh putty and the lattice. When it sets so that I can't put this — middle finger — right up at, you can go."

"How long will that take?"

"He pokes at the hall. It feels like I have a burning golf ball in my stomach. I hiss at him."

"Looks like you're about done. Maybe an hour. Then we're gonna keep you in overnight so we can be sure you don't hemorrhage or go into putty shock."

"What the fuck is putty shock?"

"New therapies, new problems... When we send you home tomorrow, don't go swimming or do heavy manual labor of any kind for a week. The putty will need you back together by then."
