An interesting fictional try at this idea, not the least because the name of the device contains the word "iPad".
Compare to the newspad
from Arthur C. Clarke's 1968 novel 2001: A Space Odyssey and the calculator pad from Isaac Asimov's 1951 novel Foundation.
