"Science fiction and science have always danced around each other. Science fiction is the subconscious of science."
- Greg Bear

XV Wedge
A piece of entertainment that consists of edited real experience.

This is a logical extension of the idea of stimsim, or recorded real experience. Initially, it is only possible to do recording and playback in special environments, like a movie studio and then a theater. But what happens when the technology becomes cheap?

Some perverse spirit, somewhere out there, has decided that this is the big year for Ed Porter to work with amateurs. Probably some woman, some upper level woman who doesn't like the way the wedges he edits sell like crazy, or the shows he assembles dominate the net.

Many technologies have been opened up by inexpensive production facilities (like camcorders) and editing software. The final necessary piece, inexpensive mass distribution, is of course - the Internet.
