![]() Although most of us may not lead interesting enough lives to merit a constant log of everything that happens, it makes sense to have one if you are a police officer on duty.
In some ways this is similar to the cameras that film through the dashboards of police cars; they make a constant record during chases and stops.
LifeLog was a DARPA project from 2003. The intent was to gather in one place all of an individual's experiences; everything that they saw, all phone calls, TV shows watched, magazines read, emails sent or read, and so forth. The intent was that computer scientists could sift through this data, mapping relationships, memories, events and experiences.
The program was cancelled by DARPA in 2004, primarily as a result of criticism that it could constitute a gross invasion of privacy.
However, the idea of keeping some sort of photographic log like this may have some utility; see this article on how a similar product SenseCam, can help dementia patients. Comment/Join this discussion ( 3 ) | RSS/XML | Blog This | Additional
