Promobot, The Runaway Russian Robot!
A Russian robot named Promobot apparently escaped from the lab in which it was being developed. The robot managed to find its way to a street close by the lab, stopping only when its battery ran out.
According to the founder of the company, Oleg Kivokurtseva, Promobot had been left alone to practice maneuvers, but someone forgot to secure the lab.

Fans of Michael Crichton remember the underrated 1985 movie Runaway, which starred Tom Selleck, Kirstie Alley and Gene Simmons of the band KISS as the villain.
In the future, robots proliferate in society. But who will catch them when they become runaways!
