Comments on Computerized Lip-Reading Crime Fighters
Interesting project to teach computers how to lip-read automatically. (Read
the complete story)
|"On the computerized lip reading story: in December 06, the History Channel (US) presented a 1 hour story on the use of automated lip reading techniques applied to the several hundred hours of silent 'home movies' found in the Hitler bunker at the end of WWII. There was a nice, very understandable, explanation of the technology and a test comparing human skills to those of the computer. The point was made that it would now be possible to extract another layer of information from historical film, and even surveillance tapes."

|"That's an amazingly great point! I wonder how many other sources are available - going back to the beginning of moving pictures."
