Comments on Guided Bullets By Exacto From DARPA
DARPA once again pushes the envelope in a way that was clearly foreseen in books and movies. (Read the complete story)

"I thought of some other examples of weapon systems that used different unique characteristics of victims. Compare the homer with the mechanical hound from Ray Bradbury's 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451 (used unique scent characteristics), the mechanical cobra from Roger Zelazny's 1967 novel Lord of Light (ised unique encephalogram pattern) and the slamhound from William Gibson's 1986 novel Count Zero (used pheromones and hair color)."
(Bill Christensen 12/2/2008 7:55:35 PM)
"This is proabably not going to be a bullet. A bullet is a projectile, defined as "... any object propelled through space by the exertion of a force, which CEASES after launch."
(dug 12/4/2008 3:46:21 PM)
"50 YEARS AGO THE IDEA OF GENETICALY DNA COMPUTING,TELEVISION WAS STILL BLACK AN GREY, THIS INTERNET ONLY EXSISTS BECAUSE OF THE TRENCH DROP OF TELEPHONE LINES. THE TAKE DNA SAMPLES OF ALL NATO BIRTHS, SOLDIERS AND ANYTIME THEY NEEDONE MISSED FOR FUTURE TSA CHECKS. THIWAS ON NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC AND THEY ARE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT THEY PRDUCE"
(MICHAEL SUNDAY, CO 12/4/2008 7:17:23 PM)
"So in other words, its a small rocket put into a bullet casing. Doesn't seem so revolutionary to me. Combining existing technologies and all that"
( 12/5/2008 12:01:54 PM)
"I've never seen any credited link, but the Lawgiver guns in the Judge Dredd mythos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawgiver) appear closely modelled on those of the Sandmen in "Logan's Run" (similar user-coding and multi-function ammunition)."
(Ray Girvan 12/14/2008 5:21:20 PM)
"Gee what could go wrong besides ya know hitting other troops or maybe just maybe it comes back and hits u "
