Comments on So You Want To Be A Mentat
What does it take to develop yourself into a Mentat, the human computers from Frank Herbert's Dune? (Read
the complete story)
| "We need to formulate an easy to use low-level "virtual" model for everyone to go by.
Training using "loci", colors, journeys, or whatever you may call them, could potentially be used to embed a simple virtual machine architecture in the mind for efficient computation.
Of course the algorithms them self would need to be stored in memory or in a handbook which we could read in a quick manner using chunking methods or speed reading.
All of this in turn would require some sort of mental language to model the algorithms and programs in. The language would have to be efficient yet abstract, flexible yet low-level with a concise and error-free (or error-tolerance/handling mechanism) grammar and syntax.
