""There was also a recent movie in which (as I recall) geophysical forces were marshalled to cause earthquakes in designated countries. Hopefully, readers will refresh my memory." State of Fear by Michael Crichton is about a group of radical environmentalists who trigger a series of disasters such as tsunami to further their political power."

"In the movie conspiracy theory - bear with me here - the main character comes up with dozens of theories on a daily basis for a newspaper, and though he believes them all in some sense one of them turns out to be true. One of the ones which wasn't validated by the movie was a theory that a series of earthquakes in the mid-east were being caused by new U.S military satellites...Of course, bit of a weak link :P"

"You're right, dtrwos, that was the movie I was thinking about. The premise was pretty good, even though it had that "B" movie aura throughout."
