"I can't remember the story but it was either a Heinlein or Asimov short story. An accident with a large electro magnet in a fusion reactor resulted in someone having their chemistry reversed (left/right handed molecules) Story covered problems with not being able to derive nutrition from foodstuffs etc and ended up with them trying to reverse it and causing the reactor to explode"
