Sandisk 1 Terabyte SD Memory Card Surfaces
Nothing's more handy than an SD card for expanded storage, and apparently Sandisk has your storage needs met - and then some.
Western Digital, SanDisk’s parent company, dropped the one terabyte bomb at the Photokina 2016 photography show today, and it comes just a couple of years after revealing a 512 GB SDXC card at the same event. For the time being the card is still in the prototype stage, which means you won’t be finding one under the tree this holiday season. But given the 512 GB version cost $800, when this 1 TB version is finally available you probably won’t find too many people willing to gift you one.
Science fiction authors have been fascinated with capacious data storage in a tiny form factor. In his 1973 collection Time Enough For Love, Robert Heinlein creates a vision for engineers the Welton Cube:
"I can use it to write the sort of commentary you want, and take time to miniaturize and stabilize a message. The problems of a time-tripping historiogapher are odd and awkward. One Welton fine-grain memory cube would record all I could say over the next ten years--except that I would have no use for one even if I had it; the technology to use it is lacking.
