LG Rollable Version Of Niven's Poster TV
So, reality is doing pretty well these days. It only took engineers 42 years to catch up with Larry Niven's prediction of a poster tv , from his 1976 novel World Out of Time :
She set up a screen: a television that unrolled like a poster. Another computer link, he guessed. She showed him pictures. Their vocabulary increased.
SF great EC Tubb just missed out on this one in 1958, because when he described the flexible wall sheet display in his 1958 classic The Mechanical Monarch , he failed to specify that it was rollable :
Against one wall a wide sheet of clear material suddenly flared with light and swirling colour. It steadied and a woman stared from the screen.
Anyway, here's the amazing LG 65 inch OLED TV that can be rolled up like a poster for storage, or for screen size limitation.

(LG does it again with 65" rollable OLED TV)
The new LG Display is the world’s first 65-inch rollable OLED display.
The design aims to optimize space utilization, allowing the large screen to be packed away in a more compact form when its’ not in use.
This makes for easier storage, while still achieving high resolution.
The key to LG’s radical new display is that it does not require a backlight, according to the BBC.
This gives it the freedom to roll up and be stored away.
LG has yet to reveal more details on the rollable TV, though more information is set to come when CES officially opens up tomorrow.
