'We're Not Creating A Terminator' Say Russians About Gun-Wielding Robot Fedor
No, no, no - we're not creating a terminator. That's important reassurance coming from Russian roboticists and artificial intelligence experts working with the FEDOR Humanoid Robot.

The new anthropomorphic robot Fyodor (from the English abbreviation FEDOR - Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research, the final experimental demonstration object of research), developed under the control of the Foundation for Advanced Studies, learned to fire from pistols in Macedonian, that is, with two hands. This was in his Twitter tweet written by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin."Shooting training is a way of teaching a machine to prioritize, instantaneously, and make decisions. We are not creating a terminator, but artificial intelligence, which will have great practical importance in various fields, "Rogozin said. Other details about the tests are not specified.
Obviously, human beings have been fascinated with robots having a humanoid appearance. I'm sure many Technovelgy readers recall the efforts in early cinema, like the female robot from Fritz Lang's 1927 classic Metropolis.

Fans of Westworld, who recall anthropomorphic humanoid robots with guns may have some qualms about this project.

Westworld was a sci fi movie released in 1972; Michael Crichton wrote and directed the film. In the film, android robots were used to create realistic scenarios, like the Wild West, and interact with visitors to the park in character with their era.
