LG's Rollable Newspaper Display
LG is showing off a new display that can be rolled up like a newspaper. Or a poster TV.

(LG rollable TV display)
The Ultra HD screen uses a special film instead of plastic as backing to allow screen to be rolled into a tight tube.
The new 1.05 trillion won ($900 million) flexible OLED plant in being built in Korea.
Starting in 2017, it will make four times as many screens as the current-gen plant thanks to a larger 'substrate' sheet size.
The plastic-based displays are aimed at smaller next-gen devices that can benefit from the bendability like automotive displays, cellphones and wearables.
LG vowed to ramp up OLED production from the third quarter of this year to a substantial level that can meet clients' demand, according to the Korea Times.
'We should be able to supply a satisfactory volume to our clients from July or August, which means we're hoping to buckle down production as well as promotion from the third quarter,' Sang-Deog Yeo told reporters.
'It has taken a year and half for us to raise the yield to this level (for OLEDs), while it'd taken nearly 10 years to achieve the yield for LCDs,' he said.
Probably the best sfnal precursor for this idea is the clear flexible wall sheet display from EC Tubb's 1958 novel The Mechanical Monarch.
Against one wall a wide sheet of clear material suddenly flared with light and swirling colour....
I should also mention seeing this idea in Larry Niven's 1976 story A World Out of Time; he called it a poster tv:
She set up a screen: a television that unrolled like a poster. Another computer link, he guessed. She showed him pictures...
