Paraglider To Fly From Greece to Egypt
An Austrian extreme sports enthusiast hopes to take a world's record for his planned flight from Kalamata, Greece to Alexandria, Egypt.
Andi Siebenhofer has created what he calls a "flying bicycle" - a bike attached to a motorized paraglider. He has used similar craft in helping search for lost skiers. The advantages of his craft? It is less expensive than a helicopter and offers a virtually unobstructed view. Disadvantages? "With unfavorable wind conditions like strong wind the Paragleiter at the soil must remain." Science fiction fans will remember the flycycle - the Harley Davidson of air travel from his 1970 novel Ringworld.
