Animaris Rhinoceros Transport

The Animaris Rhinoceros Transport is - well, I don't know what it is. It stands about 4.7 meters tall, and is constructed with a steel skeleton covered with a polyester skin.

(From Animaris Rhinoceros Transport)
The words of the creator of this, uh, device will need to suffice:
"On 18 September between 12.00 and 15.00 hours it will be pulled by a rope to Alberdakade by local teenagers. It will be an extraordinary event. Since the dinosaurs became extinct nothing else this size has roamed the planet’s surface. That same evening it will be placed on a plinth on the Alberdagracht (Alberda Canal). The artist hopes that this will launch the beginning of an annual tradition. Similar to Pamplona’s running of the bulls, the animal will be let loose to run on the quay. The Animaris Rhinoceros Transport is commissioned by the town district Geuzenveld/Slotermeer in colloboration with the Art Amsterdam Funds. The animal is conceived and designed by artist Theo Jansen.

Thousands of years ago man began using tree trunks for transport. Thousands of years after that the wheel was invented for more efficient transport. Now a thousand years later we are entering a new phase again: the invention of the wheel for all terrains: the Animaris Rhinoceros Transport."

This is the part I've been dreading. At this point, I'm supposed to come up with something from a science fiction book or movie that is just like this thing. Frankly, the Animaris Rhinocerous Transport is unique. It kind of reminds me of the Jawa Sandcrawler, the lumbering treaded fortress, but with more legs. I'll entertain any other suggestions in the comment section below.

Thanks to Engadget (I think) for this one.
