Fictional Interfaces By Mark Coleran
This site is primarily about the creations of science fiction writers and future thinking, but I ran across Mark Coleran, a visual designer based in London. He creates visual interfaces, mainly for the movies.
He designed some of the vision elements for the Predators in AVP (Alien vs. Predator).

He designed this cool desk-sized display for The Island, along with a lot of other visual elements for that movie.

He also came up with displays for the vampire empire in Blade 2 (my favorite of the three).

It sounds like an enjoyable job - designing what we will consider the near future in movies.
Coleran doesn't get to sit down with groups of futurists and sf authors when creating his interfaces (I don't think), so it's not a fair comparison, but you might want to look at the fictional inventions and ideas from Minority Report, the 2002 Stephen Spielberg film.
