Minority Report (Movie) by Steven Spielberg:
Science Fiction Inventions, Technology and Ideas

The movie Minority Report is based on Philip K. Dick's short story of the same name (read more about Minority Report by PKD). This excellent 2002 film stars Tom Cruse as John Anderton, the man falsely accused of future murder by the Precrime unit. Fantastic special effects really make this film a science fiction classic along with good performances (Max von Sydow is particularly good); this is a very enjoyable and remarkable film. Reportedly, many of the sfnal ideas derived from a 2-day discussion involving people from MIT's Media Lab and others. Select an invention:

Data Tiles - panes of data

E-paper Newspaper
A paper-thin, flexible LCD-style display that is large enough to display a full newspaper page.

Halo - get that man a hat!
Device that incapacitates a person by inducing unconsciousness.

Minority Report Ads (Biometric Personalized Ads)
Advertisements that speak directly to the consumer in public settings.

Public Iris Scanner - Mr. Anderton
A device that uses iris-scanning for identification, and does not require subject awareness.

Sick Stick - instant nausea
Baton that induces vomiting upon contact.

Spider Robot - swarming spider bots
Tiny spider-sized robots that are able to search buildings and identify occupants.

Wired Glove Interface Display - gesture interface from Minority Report
A large screen display that uses a wired glove interface.
