"I could never understand why the use of cargo shipping containers or big rig enclosed trailers are never talked about,Many sit unused and are readily transportable obviously. The only thing would be to design temp. plumbing and electrical as well as pre-fab insulated panels. The good thing about this is that they will not sit around being unused! John"

"hmm... heinlen aint too far off. think of a qonset type hut made from "advanced" materials. say carbon fiber or even (gasp) nanotubes. not proof against all weather, but proof against a lot of it. i'm thinking mass against wind, etc., there. any sort of lightweight, roomy and semipermanent structure would have, en masse, helped after katrina for a week or two."
