Biohybrid Robots Made Of Living And Synthetic Materials
It's true, we are used to the idea that robots are mechanical and made of non-living materials:
Now, scientific advances have increasingly shown that biological beings aren’t just born; they can be built.

Technovelgy readers, among many others, recall the biots, biological robots, from Arthur C. Clarke's 1972 novel Rendezvous with Rama:
No one knew who invented the word "biot"; it seemed to come into instant use, by a kind of spontaneous generation.
With perceptions shaped by decades of science fiction, the general public has long viewed robots as nonbiological entities. Their bones are metal, their hearts are batteries, and their muscles are motors, pistons, and gears. They might be enveloped in real-looking synthetic skin, but this is merely a cloak for their inorganic interiors.
If the biological robots were not living creatures, they were certainly very good imitations.
