Hangzhou Robotic Trash Sorting
Smart garbage sorting - courtesy of Chinese robots.
A smart garbage sorting robot was launched in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang. Supported by visual learning and navigational positioning techs, the robot can work for 8hrs straight, pick up and sort 17.5kg of garbage with an identification accuracy rate of 98% on recyclable trash.
Surely you don't think that nobody ever dreamed of machines performing unpleasant tasks. Science fiction writer Harry Harrison wrote in his 1956 story The Velvet Glove about intelligent trash sorting by robots:
"Robots pick up the garbage and junk and load it in there," he said. "Then they press one of these here thirteen buttons keying whatever they have dumped into one of the thirteen bins inside the truck. They're just plain lifting robots and not too brainy, but good enough to recognize most things they pick up.
