I Want Massive Space Freighters!
I love this early concept art from Boeing - a massive two-stage space freighter:
(Space Freighter tweet art)
As far as I know, the first use of the phrase occurs in 1932 in The Space Rover, a short story by Edwin K. Stoat.
Turning to the charts he jotted down a few calculation and stepped to the controls where he set a new course for the "iron mike" of the space freighter to follow.
(Read additional references to space freighters by Heinlein and van Vogt)
Star Wars fans would love The Space Rover, with its early description of a huge Battle Sphere!
We might have to wait for Elon Musk's BFR from SpaceX to get big payloads to orbit.
