RealView Interactive Live Medical Holography
RealView Imaging has created a system that can receive a volumetric stream such as 3D Ultrasound and project true holograms. The holograms that are projected are with high resolution and full color; the device offers a very wide angle.
The holograms can be "touched" by the user and remain in the same coordinates, independent of the viewer’s location. This proprietary capability enables precise and direct interaction with and within the images, enabling users to manipulate them in real-time.

While stereoscopic solutions that we see in 3D movies and 3D TVs create a mere illusion of a 3D scene with focus on the screen and mismatched images illusion in wrong locations (thus creating fatigue and unpleasant feeling), true holography accurately reconstructs the wave front reflected by an object, resulting in a replicated object floating in mid air. Moreover, the holographic image optically reconstructs reality and therefore the 3D holographic image is ultra realistic allowing intuitive appreciation of the three dimensional image as it possesses all required cues that include accommodation, stereopsis and convergence as well as occlusion, lighting and sometimes even colors.
The recent 2013 movie Elysium also offers a real-time view of patient organs in its futuristic medical pods. I'm pretty sure I saw something similar to the RealView Imaging system in another sf film, but perhaps readers can think of other examples.
