New Global Century Center: China's Truman Show Venue
The New Global Century center in Chengdu, China, is big. It's 1600 feet long by 1300 feet wide by 300 feet tall. As measured by floor space, it's even larger than Boeing's largest assembly building. It includes a 54,000 square foot beach fronting an indoor LED 490 x 130 foot screen for watching sunsets.

The warm rays which beam down on to the 5,000sq m beach come from an artificial sun that shines 24 hours a day using Japanese-invented specialised lighting technology that heats as well as illuminates the Paradise Isle Oceanic Park.It also produces perfect sunrises and sunsets on a sophisticated LED display. At 150m in length and 40m in height the screen is the largest of its kind in the world and projects an “endless horizon” – an idyllic backdrop against which to surf the artificial waves before a “beach” party on the 7,000sq m deck which skirts the 400m-long stretch of fake coastline.
It won't be long before we could live happy lives entirely indoors. SF fans also go to movies like The Truman Show (1998), in which Jim Carey plays a man whose entire life is filmed as a reality television show.
