Roxxxy Sex Robot From TrueCompanion
Roxxxy the sex robot is described as the first of her kind by TrueCompanion.
"She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean," TrueCompanion's Douglas Hines said while introducing AFP to Roxxxy.
"She's a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person."
Roxxxy stands five feet, seven inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, "has a full C cup and is ready for action," according to Hines, who was an artificial intelligence engineer at Bell Labs before starting TrueCompanion.
People can customize "true companion" personalities and then share the programs with others online on the company's website, according to Hines.
The life-size robotic girlfriend comes complete with complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin.

Roxxxy will chat with her flesh-and-blood mate, and touching her elicits comments varying according to personalities. She is wirelessly linked to the Internet for software updates, technical support and to send her man email messages."She knows exactly what you like," Hines said of Roxxxy, noting that Rocky will also come with personalities. "If you like Porsches, she likes Porsches. If you like soccer, she likes soccer."
Alice W. Fuller wrote about a similar device in her 1895 story A Wife Manufactured to Order:
"Now, young man, what can I do for you? Want a life-companion, a pleasant one? Man of means, no doubt, and can enjoy yourself; a little fun now and then with the boys and no harm at all -- none in the least... Now, sir, I can get you up any style you want -- wax, but can't be detected.""Do you mean to say you manufacture a woman out of wax, who will talk?"
"That's just what I do; you give me the subjects you most enjoy talking upon, and tell me what kind of a looking wife you want, and leave the rest to me, and you will never regret it. I will furnish as many 'phones' as you wish; most men don't care for such a variety for a wife -- too much talk, you know."

I'm pretty sure that the "phones" refer to grammaphone cylinders used for recording and playback at the time the story was written. From AFP.
