Tesla Coil Used As Guitar Amp
I can think of at least one other example of a musical Tesla coil; this (apparently) anonymous guitarist has created a pretty nice amp.

As far as sfnal precursors are concerned, I'm wondering if something as recent as the Guitar Hero program would count. At particular moments, the lightning will strike. This song, of course, is all about the Lightning.
