BigBelly Solar Compactor Vs. WALL-E Robot
The BigBelly solar-powered trash compactor, the world's only autonomous compactor, will be getting a special upgrade in the next few months. It's not enough that the company has reduced the size of the unit (without sacrificing compaction ability), and made it tougher with advanced plastics.

According to Bruce Todfield, VP for Marketing at BigBelly Solar, the company will be adding more intelligence to the device, including a remote communications ability. "It will provide customers more information about the collection system and make it more efficient," he said.
You may be reminded of WALL-E, the robot from the upcoming Pixar film of the same name.

(WALL-E trash robot (and friend) from Pixar's WALL-E)
WALL-E was one of the earlier ideas they had at Pixar; they'd better hurry up and bring it out while the idea of an intelligent, self-powered, autonomous, communicative garbage compaction machine is still a futuristic idea. And not a reality on your local street corner.
Somebody write me if they see two of these units holding hands.
If you want to see a trash can that moves around, see the Sociable Garbabge Can Robot. See the HD preview of WALL-E; via BigBelly Solar trash compactor gets sleeker and smarter; thanks to Vik for the tip on this story.
