Kiyomuri Samurai Robot Now With Improved Gait Stabilization
Tmsuk's Kiyomuri samurai robot was already awesome; now it has improved gait stabilization, thanks to Waseda University.
Kiyomuri is no ordinary bipedal robot. It's 39 joints and bouncy knees, combined with a very flexible pelvic region, combine to create a robot with real attitude. Take a look at Kiyomuri's superbad stride in the video below.

Thus far, Tmsuk has carefully disguised this robot's fighting abilities; Kiyomuri has even participated in prayers for the safety and progress of future robot industries. But if it can walk like that, just think of what it could do with a sword.
This past week, however, Kiyomuri has been making use of its gait stabilization upgrades. Kiyomuri has been walking up inclines of plus or minus five degrees using a gyroscopic sensor. Kiyomuri has also been practicing his stride on uneven surfaces.
Science fiction fans have been on the lookout for robots like Kiyomuri for a long time. As much as I enjoyed watching Robbie the Robot walking in Forbidden Planet, I'm more than ready for a robot with some glide in his stride.
