illy Push Button House
I'm fascinated by the idea of houses that can be easily moved to a new place and set up immediately. The illy Push Button House is a good addition to the collection I started when writing about Shelter after Katrina.

The Push Button House was originally unveiled by illy at the 52nd International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale in June of this year. It contained all the comforts and accomodations needed for contemporary, container-sized living - all constructed from recycled or recyclable materials.
The Push Button House takes about ninety seconds to extend itself fully via computer-controlled hydraulics.
Arthur C. Clarke wrote about a self-sufficient house that could be placed anywhere; I wrote about it a bit more in zeroHouse Self-Sufficient In Power, Water.
