MotionPortrait Creates 3D Zombified Version Of You From Photo
MotionPortrait is a Japanese technology that lets anyone take a portrait (a still photograph) and create from it a strange, zombified 3D version of you that obeys its creators will.
Take a look at the short video below that uses a single image of an anime character (from the Sony PSP game Suzumiya Haruhi no yakusoku) and transforms it. Watch carefully as the character seems to move its face as well as its eyes.

MotionCapture creates a fully realized 3D model from the still photograph. This model can be placed in a 3D environment, synced with sound and programmed to respond to any user input.

Although this technology will be used initially to create avatars for social networks - and even for cellphone conversations - I'm beginning to lose my grip on Internet reality just a little. Video used to be the gold standard for convincing people that something actually happened. It's becoming too easy for ordinary people to create whatever reality they want.
