Comments on Thor Shield Energy Weapon-Proof Fabric
An engineer with an interest in lightning protection systems comes up with a way to foil taser weapons and cattle prods. (Read the complete story)

"Military and police forces alone will be sold this product. That really makes me sick. The average civilian who doesn't want to be tased by criminals isn't worthy of this product?"
( 5/3/2006 3:31:28 PM)
"I need this for my dogs. Last time burglers come into my home and they killed my dogs with an stun gun. Please sale it for civilian"
(Andrew 12/26/2006 4:56:27 PM)
"Ok, I can see the logic in not wishing to make the public immune from tasers BUT by the time a criminal has overcome an authorized officer and decides to use the gun on them, you need to HOPE that they are NOT wearing the jacket. Let me explain. If you are the bad guy and wish to zap some poor sod you have managed to overcome and find that when you press the electrodes to his chest nothing happens - are you going to think "oh ok, best give up on that idea then" - or are you just going to use the gun on his face / groin instead? Personally, if I am lying prone and someone intends to use a stun gun on me, I would rather like them to be happy to just zap my chest or back. I guess I must be missing a very big point here....."
(Mark 7/20/2007 9:40:10 AM)
"This company policy just re-inforces the fact that goverments and corporations selling to those governments would like nothing better than to have civilians completely at their control. Companies like this promote our inevitable regression from citizens to subjects. No protection for you, Magoo. ZAPPPPP I guess the criminals will just buy their sh&*^ south of the border."
(Justin 11/27/2007 9:21:10 AM)
"Just make your own at home. It's just a metal mesh with a non-conductive layer on the side close to your body. It's a DC pulse so being grounded is not necessary; just short the circuit. The commercial product is probably nicer looking and easier to sew into clothing than some window screen and a rubber sheet, though."
(tinkerer 1/4/2008 1:32:45 PM)
"I've seen far too many criminal cops tazer people for exercising their right to speak. It's also criminal not to allow citizens to passively defend themselves from this aggression. Shame on you Thor Shield!"
(D.I.Y. civilian 1/31/2008 12:03:21 PM)
"Z-Mar sells this same kind of material. Anyone can buy it."
(Ezight 2/13/2008 7:13:49 PM)
"I looked at the Z-Mar site; they sell products that 'help eliminate damage to electronic products and assemblies from static charges.' I don't think that, even if you wore their materials, that they would protect you while you were being tased."
(Bill Christensen 2/14/2008 4:31:10 AM)
"Re:Bill Ok you looked at the site. Did you call them and ask for samples of what they have? I have 4 samples of what they make,4 sheets 7x7 inches. Use a hand taser 500,000 volts . Put a sheet in your hand (preferably the black material) first. Put the taser up to your hand with the material blocking. You won't get shocked. The material has interwoven conductive fiber in it. some of the sheets can withstand alot of voltage while others have to be layered together. If you dont like the material you could just go with aluminum window screen sandwiched with vinyl. That works well too but does not bend and form well with your body. "
(Ezight 3/10/2008 11:01:31 PM)
"I wonder why this is not available for use by citizens. It would definitely sell very well. I'm disturbed that it will only be in the hands of the Fed/Police. Worrisome."
(TruthSeeker 1/26/2009 12:32:43 PM)
"I understand the reason to sell to "Military/Law Enforcement" Exclusively. I get it... I just think a civilian should be able to purchase this product with a permit. We need protection too. I'm not allowed to carry a hand gun in Newark NJ. "I," at a minimum, should be able to protect myself. Shame on the law and anyone who puts up with this crap."
(Rats 5/22/2009 6:32:36 AM)
"Eliminating the structure of the Thor Shield should be easy enough for a clever mind. Then call it the Zeus Armor. Yay inovation"
(Turd Ferguson 12/27/2009 12:33:07 AM)
