Comments on Burj Dubai Tower Update
The Burj Dubai tower in the United Arab Emirates is quietly progressing on its goal of being the tallest building in the world. (Read the complete story)

"Thanks, Joel, for the bad link report! I hate bad links."
(Bill Christensen 7/27/2005 8:49:43 PM)
"in the book "Tower of Glass" by Robert Silverberg. A glass communications tower was being erected, to a height of 6 kilometers if I remember right.
(I can't believe I missed that one; I read that story this spring... Bill)"
(Jeff 8/1/2005 2:57:22 PM)
"brilliant"
(lizera 8/25/2005 7:03:15 AM)
"I like this quote: "[Burj Dubai] will restore to the Middle East the honor of hosting the earth's tallest structure -- a title lost in 1889". Quiz questions: (a) What middle-eastern structure was the world's tallest until 1889? (b) How was the title lost in 1889?"
( 8/29/2005 1:34:49 PM)
"What's th big deal about tall buildings? Seems that they are more fragile, require more logistic support, and essentially isolate their inhabitants. Admittedly, a vertical structure is more ego satisfying to its builders than a horizontal building is, but that's about all that's involved."
(budwood 9/10/2005 8:33:00 AM)
"Well, if more people lived in skyscrapers we, humans, would take less space in nature. Not inflicting as much as we do today on other lifeforms, like pandas. its about time we build higher and dont spread on a bigger area."
(AKing 9/10/2005 8:52:35 AM)
""How was the title lost in 1889?"" The pyramid was the tallest. In 1889 the Eiffel tower in Paris was built, surpassing it. - Sry about doublepost"
(AKing 9/10/2005 8:53:33 AM)
"Good point - you might also be interested in Oath of Fealty by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven. The novel explores some of the implications of building large, efficient structures leaving lots of green space; see the entry for arcology."
(Bill Christensen 9/10/2005 1:32:27 PM)
"THIS TOWER IS VERY HIGHEST AND VERY BEAUTYFUL I LIKE THIS"
(FRANS 10/2/2005 3:33:25 AM)
"would have preferred a more rounder building but otherwise I hope it is a success"
(Alan Chewter 11/3/2005 9:27:40 AM)
"i would like to send me some quiz about burj dubai and jumeirah lake tower in dubai at least 10. thanks s"
(shaikha 11/22/2005 2:48:13 AM)
"This place is huge please send me more info for a school project my address is www.fenn3@hotmail.com"
(Fenn 1/11/2006 1:44:13 AM)
"Time to replace the old render with the newer one out there. Can be found at skyscrapercity etc..."
(AKing 1/29/2006 11:48:43 PM)
"antenna,cost and elevator "
(badriya 2/20/2006 8:14:23 AM)
"Your blog is really very interesting."
(Useful blog 2/22/2006 2:44:58 PM)
"Very good design & architect i have specially seen your construction site."
(asgar ali 3/28/2006 3:55:59 AM)
"it's very funtastic bravo"
(noe 4/19/2006 2:42:50 AM)
"hey whats the interior layout? don't they have any computerized previews etc?"
(Almas 5/2/2006 11:50:26 PM)
"the dubai tower will be an amazing stucture but it has some copetition aganist the freedom tower in new york, which want the title back as the city with the worlds tallest building.i hope the dubai tower will win that building battle!!"
( 8/6/2006 4:18:44 AM)
"Wow. This is an incredible human accomplishment, it will change how the world sees skyscrapers forever! Not JUST as office, retail and living space, but as a statement. Dubai has definetely got something remarkable here! What I really want to see is if anyone will top this one off! "
( 8/15/2006 1:51:50 PM)
"It sure is an impressive project indeed. 800 meters, that's almost half a mile! It certainly looks a lot nicer than all those "box" buildings out there too. By the way, the Middle East _is_ a part of *Asia*, not "between" Europe and Asia. "
( 9/12/2006 2:08:16 PM)
"Fantastic Tower "
(Fransiscus 9/21/2006 9:53:50 PM)
"I WANA SEE BURJ TOWER IN REAL AFTER IT COMPLETES, WHEN EVER I COME BACK HARE, I SEE CHANGES,THIS TIME I SEE UNAFORDABLES RENTS & TOO MUCH AUTO MOBILE CROWD, BUT IT WILL IMPROVE, THIS IS ECONOMICAL REVOLUTION. "
(JAGGI 10/31/2006 9:49:57 AM)
"I think too much of construction does sometimes create a disequilibrium for nature...so i guess we all go to think twice"
(none 11/16/2006 3:35:36 AM)
"Not only huge, but also very artistic."
(Ben 3/26/2007 5:28:14 PM)
"The tower Al Burj is a n unique and an impressive project. We can’t say they don’t’ have a vision, and we see a lot of engineering work, but I think the scale construction is not friendly for individual user."
(Monica 8/27/2007 6:29:38 PM)
"the trouble with this tower is nobody ever comments on the fact that, the actual building is from slave labour!"
(l.ellis 11/15/2007 7:15:53 AM)
